I wanted to share with you the Article 24 of the new French proposed bill :
That article makes it a criminal offence to publish images of on-duty police officers with the intent to harm their “physical or psychological integrity”.
But how could you judge the « intent » on those publications ?
It says offenders could face up to a year in prison and be fined €45,000 !
Advocates say the article will protect police from harassment and targeting on social media.
But critics say media freedom and citizens’ right to film police action must not be impeded, as the French police are now under intense scrutiny for alleged racism !
Images of music producer Michel Zecler being kicked and punched at his Paris studio last month ( 21 November ) by three white policemen shocked the nation, and further enraged opponents to the bill.
Without that video Michel will have been in jail for diffamation !
